Thurlo
Thurlo Jansen, with his profound experience in golf coaching and passion for youth development, stands as a pillar of inspiration in our team. His journey from a firefighter to a respected figure in the golf community in the Western Cape exemplifies resilience and dedication. His commitment to teaching golf is not just about the sport; it's about instilling discipline, focus, and life skills in young individuals. Thurlo's transformative influence extends beyond the golf course, making him a role model for our participants and a source of confidence for our participants.
Cameron
Cameron brings a wealth of knowledge from his extensive background in Oracle database programming and academic instruction. His transition from electrical engineering to a focus on coding and business showcases a versatile skill set and an innovative mindset. Cameron's ability to integrate technology with social concerns demonstrates a unique problem-solving and community empowerment approach. His multifaceted expertise in technology and education ensures that our programs are grounded in practicality and forward-thinking, instilling trust in our participants.
Gillian
Gillian, with her exceptional skills in accounting and auditing, is the backbone of our operational integrity. Her journey through various sectors, including arts, transport, and now non-profit, reflects versatility and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics. Gillian's commitment to community service, especially for those in need, speaks volumes about her dedication to social welfare. Her ability to manage financial and compliance aspects with utmost precision and care is instrumental in building a foundation of trust and reliability with our participants.
Thrive Social Development emerged in 2018 within the Bonteheuwel community. It originated from a group of dynamic young adults involved in a local initiative known as “The Boardroom”. This collective initially focused on discussing topics like personal finance, future planning, child welfare, and ways to positively influence Bonteheuwel. Through deep contemplation and dialogue, the group recognised their call to serve and make a tangible difference in the lives of others, especially in light of the social challenges arising from historical disparities. This realisation led to the initiative of serving meals to local children every Sunday morning, marking the start of an impactful journey where over 150 meals were regularly provided to the youth in the community.
